2- Course aim: Equip the nurse graduate with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to provide care to the woman throughout her childbearing cycle as well as those who suffer from gynecological problems and those who seek family planning services.
3- Intended learning outcomes (ILOs) At the end of this course the student must be able to
 

A- Knowledge and understanding:

a1- Describe normal and abnormal anatomical structure of female genital organs, male  genital organs and fetal development.

a2- Explain the process of conception.

a3– Recognize testing techniques required for diagnosis of pregnancy.

a4– Identify risk factors related to major complication during pregnancy.

a5- Enumerate signs and asymptotes of labor.

a6- Describe the newborn condition.

a7– Describe etiology, clinical picture, pathogenesis, diagnoses and complications of common and life threatening health conditions affecting patients with different female age groups.

a8– Recognize the common diagnostic and laboratory techniques necessary to diagnosis of common maternal and gynecological disorders.

a9- Describe principles of nursing management of common and life threatening problems in different age groups.

a10– Identify specific nursing interventions related to major acute and chronic disorders during pregnancy, labor and post partum.

 

B-Intellectual skills: b1- confirm counseling of women to prevent anemia occur during pregnancy

b2- select preconception counseling for diabetic women of reproductive age

b3- select preconception counseling for heart disease women

b4-integrate appropriate nursing care plans taking into consideration available workload and availability of resources within the context of a holistic care approach.

C- Professional skills: c1- Draw the anatomical structure of female genital organs, fetal skull and bony pelvic .

c2- Perform general and abdominal examination of normal pregnant women.

c3-Calculate expected date of delivery correctly by different methods.

c4- Apply partograph and vaginal examination to assess progress normal labor and any division than normal way.

c5- Solve problems related to normal and  abnormal puerperium

c6- Utilize counseling techniques correctly with women used family planning services

c7-Apply nursing care plan suitable for each gynecological condition.

c8– Utilize fetal monitoring to assess condition of fetus during pregnancy and labor.
