2-   هدف المقرر :

To equip nursing students with the essential knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to provide competent care to children from birth through  adolescence and their families during health and illness  .
المستهدف من تدريس المقرر :
أ‌-        المعلومات والمفاهيم : 1.أ     Discuss concepts of pediatric nursing qualities

2.أ     Describe normal growth and development of children at different stages from birth through adoelscents.

3.أ     Discuss nursery school in the life of the preschool child.

4.أ     Identify normal new born infant.

5.أ     Discuss psychological aspect of hospitalization.

6.أ     Describe factors affecting high risk infants and nursing care for these infants.

7.أ     Discuss different congenital anomalies in children.

8.أ     Discuss feeding of infant and children and weaning.

9.أ     Differentiate between different types of malnutrition diseases.

10.أ  Identify causes of gastrointestinal disorder and nursing care.

11.أ  Discuss respiratory system diseases and nursing care of each disease

12.أ  Discuss urinary system disease and nursing care.

13.أ  Discuss different neurological diseases and nursing care for each disease.

14.أ  Discuss different types of blood diseases and nursing care of each.

15.أ  Discuss signs and symptoms of different dermatological diseases and nursing care for each disease.

16.أ  Discuss signs and symptoms of dehydration.

17.أ  Discuss signs and symptoms of different cardiovascular dieases and nursing.

 

 

ب – المهارات الذهنية : 1.ب -Apply nursing process with culturally diverse children and their families, incorporating knowledge of illness and disease management, development, human responses to actual and potential health problems, current nursing recearch, and scientific principles.

2.ب -Integrate knowledge and values from the humanities, and social, physical and behavioral sciences into a theoretical base for providing professional nursing care to children and their families and use that base in clinical practice.

3.ب -Engage in critical thinking and decision making to analyze selected case studies and critical thinking exercises related to children and their families.

4.ب -Collaborate with children, their family members, and health care professionals to plan and implement care.

5.ب -Formulate plans of care based on illness and disease management, age and developmental status.

جـ – المهارات المهنية الخاصة بالمقرر : 1.ج   -Take vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure ) .

2.ج   -Take history.

3.ج   -Perform basic adult physical assessment (physical examination and investigations).

4.ج   -Collect laboratory specimens (urine,stool, sputum blood ) .

5.ج   -Administer various routes of medication.

6.ج   -Apply appropriate infection prevention practices.

7.ج   -Provide wound care.

8.ج   -Provide basic pre-and postoperative care.

9.ج   -Provide bowel and bladder care (catheterization and enema).

10.ج      -Provide comfort measures: prevention and care of bed sores positioning.

11.ج      -Administer range of motion exercises.

12.ج      -Apply principles of infection control when providing care for children.

د – المهارات العامة : 1.د    -Use appropriate interpersonal communication skills.

2.د    -Apply basic principles of health education and counseling (group and individual).

3.د    -Apply principles of advocacy, empowerment, ethics, human rights and gender issues to care provision.

4.د    -Use appropriate records (written) reports (oral and written) and documents (written).
